The People's History of Grand Rapids LGBT Documentary debuted last night at GVSU's downtown Loosemore Auditorium. I couldn't go unfortunately, but I am dying to see it!
http://grandrapidslgbthistory.com/ A lot of the content in the film is organized pretty well on the site. It's great seeing Grand Rapids history, especially of a "minority group" and from their perspective.
they're talking about doing a "People's History" series with stories from local Native American communities to the 1968 riots.
Future viewings:
Sunday, January 8 at 6pm Plymouth UCC 4010 Kalamazoo SE, Grand Rapids
Thursday, January 19 at 6pm GVSU Campus Allendale, Cook-DeWitt
There's a crazy clip from an AIDS fundraiser and Lee Van Ameyde slips and says: "This is the first time that the foundation has used AIDS to fight art at this annual bash."
As people realized what he said in the theatre we slowly started to laugh.
