Let's share! What do you follow for inspiration?
  • I always love the answers to this question, so I'm curious: What sites or blogs do you subscribe to outside of your chosen field and what do you get out of it or find fascinating about it? For example, my work is in the intersection of tech and journalism, but outside of that, what I read mainly fall into design.

    Some of my reads:
    - BLDG blog: This blog takes a wide view of the built world. It focuses mostly on architecture but also landscapes and machines, urban design and human interaction with nature and sculptures.
    - Subtraction.com: The blog of NYTimes' former chief designer, Khoi Vinh, who is now chronicling his startup journey on Mixel, a tablet platform for digital collaging (here's a warm-fuzzy on multiple sclerosis and Mixel). It's a great place to observe the best of web development thinking + digital design. Also a great place to read about cartoons as art.
    - Low-commitment projects: Totally low commitment, fun and ephemeral crafts that we can do and feel creative on a regular basis.
    - Guerilla Innovation: Focused mostly on Europe, this blog looks at the intersection between arts, interaction and public empowerment.
    - Mrs. Easton: A packrat if there ever was one, Melissa Easton's collection of bizarre trinkets have quite the visual impact when she photographs them and shares them online.
    - Utne Reader: The media tumblr that I subscribe to. Utne Reader collects the best of the alternative press and publishes them in an annual volume. Their reader presents a great diversity of fascinations and must-knows for the progressive crowd.

    For the printsperation!
  • One blog that I've been following quite a bit lately is http://www.galapril.com/

It's by a Danish girl with cool dreads, piercings and good taste.
